The Home

Not just a homestay, it’s a farm stay nestled in the lap of nature. Located in Sunkiya village, its only 2 km from Bhetlia market. Far away from pollution, noise and chaos, it is rooted in a huge Oak forest and fruit orchard. We have Peach, Plum, Apricot and Apple tree to please fruit lovers. Visit us in the months of Jan-Feb to enjoy fresh snow, Mar-Apr when the landscape is colored red with Rhododendron flowers, June-Aug to enjoy crunchy garden fresh fruits or any time of the year to escape the maddening crowed of city. We have a set of 2 guest room on the first floor, with one common bathroom, a huge balcony overlooking the valley. Another room is on the ground floor with a bathroom to be shared only with the our family. We have pitched 2 tents in the orchard for adventure lovers. You may also pitch your own tent and pay just for food.

Best part is, we are secludedly located about 350 mtr off the road to give you ultimate peace & privacy. Only few deer and birds come to entertain you sometime. Come with family, friends or solo, you will love it..!

Know your Host

Puran Singh and his family are resident of Sunkiya for centuries. Every nook and corner of Mukteshar is so well known to him. He is a simple farmer who loves to talk about nature, farming and social issues. He treats every tree like his own children. He is a good guide and a cook who along with his wife Veena takes care of the home and the guests.

We serve freshly cooked local cuisine and North Indian vegetarian food. Non-vegetarian is available only on demand. Most of the vegetables supplied to the kitchen come from our own organic farm. Breakfast is served as per your choice like Paratha with curd or tea, Sandwich, Butter Toast, Bread Omelette or Puri Bhaji. You would love herbal tea and pakodas in the evening. Dinner is served with a combination of north India and Kumaoni food. We have a small dairy farm of our own, so you get milk and other dairy product fresh always. Since we are located in a fruit orchard, you are free to choose, pluck and enjoy yourself.

Guest Testimonials

“My love for anything that’s rustic yet beautiful often takes me to places less ventured. This time I chose Mukteshwar, and chose a ‘homestay’ run by Puran Singhji and his wife in a small hamlet called ‘Sunkiya’ near Mukteshwar …totally worth it! Welcomed by clean air and blue sky ..simple clean rooms… good healthy food with veggies straight out of their garden… basking in the sun with a great view overlooking acres of terraced fields. They have cows too which means that we got milk, ghee and curd rite from the source. Puran Singhji & ‘didi’ as I called his wife were great hosts in their own simple way. It’s a pet friendly home, even my four legged child queen was much at ease and looked like she was home. Highly recommended.”

“It was indeed a marvellous experience and fabulous hilly treat. Here we actually realized that the greatest creations of GOD is……Family and Mother Nature. We will always cherish this unforgettable trip which was full of Love, Care & Calmness. Through this review I would also like to thank Mr Vinod & our wonderful host..Mr & Mrs Pooran Ji for lovely hospitality which they have offered. To sum up I can only say that WE GOT WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR.

Finally, I end with a quote which someone has rightly said “Those who travel to mountain-tops are half in love with themselves, and half in love with oblivion”.

We had a wonderful time with the warm hospitality of the hosts, a place to be visited for those wishing to escape the maddening humdrum for moments of peace languishing amidst hills and the serene valley.
