Cherrapunji

Located on a plateau in the southern edge of the Khasi Hills in Meghalaya facing the plains of Bangladesh, Cherrapunji is one of India’s most picturesque locations. Gushing waterfalls, mysterious caves, lush green hills and amazing living root bridges are a few things that make it a magical wonderland you must visit.  The heaviest downpours span approximately five months from May until September, so the best time to visit Cherrapunji is between the months of October and May, when the weather remains cool and pleasant. 

Umroi Airport at Shillong is the nearest airport located at a distance of 80km from Cherrapunji. You can easily find taxis from Shillong airport to Cherrapunji. Another major international airport close to Cherrapunji is Guwahati Airport (LGBI Airport) around 165 kms away.

The Homestay

This is a well maintained no-frills homestay centrally located yet close to nature. There are 3 double occupancy rooms and a family room that can accommodate 4 people. All rooms have an attached bathroom. There is a common living area that gives you the warmth of a home. Free private parking is available.

Food

Mawa himself is very fond of cooking and serves regular Indian food. Local dishes can also be served on request. For breakfast there are options like bread butter omelette, sandwich, alu paratha, puri sabji etc. In lunch and dinner, both vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian options are available.
