Shillong the capital city of Meghalaya lies in the center of a plateau and is surrounded by hills. Founded in the second half of the nineteenth century by the British, Shillong has always enjoyed a cosmopolitan status and it reflects in its unique culture. People here celebrate every festival with zest and you can enjoy cuisines from across the country and the world. There is a lot to do in this charming little place – water rappelling at the Elephant Falls, leisurely stroll along the Wards Lake and boating at the Umiam Lake.
The nearest airport is the Umroi Airport about 25 km away but has limited connectivity with other cities. The nearest major well-connected airport is in Guwahati about 125 km away. Guwahati Railway Station, 135 km away, is the nearest railhead. Taxis and buses are available from Guwahati to Shillong.
It is a well maintained 80 yrs old house located in a peaceful locality of Shillong. Being on a hill, it offers a beautiful view. You can almost see half of Shillong from here which looks amazing especially at night with lights blinking away.
There are two units within the same compound – one unit is an Assam Type Cottage and the other is an RCC structure. There are four rooms in each building. In the Assam Type Cottage three rooms are on the first floor and one room is on the ground floor while in an RCC building all rooms are on the first floor.

You will be hosted by Daphira Wallang, a hotel management graduate. He started the homestay four years back to apply his knowledge and interest into real life work experience. Daphira always makes sure to personally interact with the guests and is always ready to assist them with anything starting with the recommendations for trying the local cuisine, tourist spots and to get a perfect glimpse of the traditional Khasi lifestyle.
Enjoy simple yet sumptuous breakfast that includes butter toast, omelet, corn flakes with milk, tea/ coffee etc. You can order dinner in advance. You can try local dishes like Jadoh (Khasi Fried Rice), Muli khleh (raw radish mixed with white sesame seeds), Dohkhleh (boiled pork cut into small pieces mixed with onion and ginger, Dohsniang Neiiong (pork curry with black sesame seeds) and Tungrymbai (Khasi chutney).
