This homestay is located in Lachen, a quiet mountain town in Sikkim’s Mangan district. “Lachen” is Tibetan for “big pass.” Famous for its stunning natural scenery and traditional Lepcha culture, Lachen is still a quiet, less commercialized place and is the gateway to the holy Gurudongmar Lake—one of the world’s highest lakes.
Nestled amidst stunning mountain views, the homestay offers unique opportunity to experience local culture and warm hospitality. It provides comfortable accommodation, delicious home-made meals, and the opportunity to engage in local traditions within a genuine ambience—just right for people who want to discover Lachen’s natural beauty while feeling part of the home. There are three rooms on the first floor and two rooms on the ground floor. All rooms have attached bathrooms and are equipped with the basic amenities. The rooms are designed in traditional and semi modern architecture having triple and quad occupancy.

The host’s wife prepares simple, homecooked meals with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options available on request. Breakfast includes Maggi, bread, roti, and Khuri—a traditional buckwheat crepe that’s non-fermented and versatile, served with various fillings. Lunch and dinner include comforting dishes like dal, rice, vegetables and seasonal leafy greens.

A farmer by background, he has recently stepped into hospitality with a desire to share the true essence of Lachen.
