Martam Village

Martam is a picturesque Himalayan village near Bermiok in West Sikkim, with spectacular views of Mt. Kanchenjungha, Kabru, Koktang, KumbhKarna, Rathong and many more. If you want to experience authentic Sikkimese Village life in the lap of the Himalayas then Martam village is the place to be. Though it is close to popular destinations like Bermoik, Uttarey and Rinchenpong, Martam remains clear of the vexing tourist rush. The quaint village was once a popular religious center of the Limbu people. ‘Yuma Samyo Manghim’ temple in the village ground was built by the followers of this religion and was once the seat of the great mystic Guru Teyongsi Srijunga.

It is 126 km from NJP railway station and and 145 km from Bagdogra airport.

The Homestay

It is an isolated compound with an amazing view and a beautiful lawn. Though there is a little hike of around 180 mts to reach the homestay, the greenery and beauty of this place will completely make up for it. There are three cottages and the host family stays in one. The second one has 2 stories; ground floor has a dormitory with a bathroom and first floor has 3 rooms, all with attached bathrooms. The third cottage is little isolated with a room that can accommodate 5 people, a kitchen and a bathroom and is ideal for long staying guests.
Number of rooms: 5, Total Capacity: 15-20 people.

Know your host

Guests are warmly welcomed with traditional indian customs by Subhojit Dutta and his family members. They are a hospitable Bengali family who takes care of their guests with utmost care and responsibility. Being a motorcycle tour operator, Subhojit can guide and help the guests organize their trip. Folk dances and bonfires can also be arranged by them on demand.

The kitchen serves healthy traditional food. Bakuit is served in breakfast along with parathas, omelette, tea etc whereas in lunch and dinner, Bengali cuisine is served. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is prepared as per the guest requirement.
