Splendid farm patches and orchards dot the undulating landscape of Kotabagh. The beauty of this place is unmatched with the jungle on one side and the hills on the other. About 8 km drive through Corbett land takes you to this fertile farm-scape with layers of Kumaon hills on the horizon. What started as a vacation home in 1995 by the Shergills is now a charming homestay sprawling across 2 acres of organic farmland full of fruit trees. The father-son duo designed the cottage in the contemporary Laurie Baker architectural style with rustic rooms and high arches. The land is full of trees – Arjun, Mango, Apricot, Guava, Custard apple, Mulberry and Peach to name a few. 

There are 3 artistically done spacious rooms for the guests. It is the perfect getaway for nature lovers, adventurists, explorers, artists, writers, yoga & meditation enthusiasts and all those looking for a peaceful stay. Wake up to the symphony of bird songs and the fresh cool breeze coming from the Himalayas

How to Reach

It is just 5 hrs drive from Delhi. You can either drive or take a train. The closest railway stations are Ramnagar and Kathgodam both at a distance of just 38 km.

Food

The highlight of the stay is its delicious food served with lots of love and care by the Shergills. The homestay has its own organic kitchen garden. Not just the vegetables and herbs, but also the rice and flour come from their own farms. The menu is flexible, you just need to have a prior discussion about your preferences with the hosts. The options include Indian, Continental, Italian and Chinese. Even Pizza bases and Pasta are made at home. They also happily organise picnic lunches for guests to take along on a picnic to the river side and jungles.

Rushil is an expert cook himself. His signature dish ‘Handi Mutton’ slow cooked in a terracotta pot is a treat that one must not miss. Gorging on this while sitting by a bonfire under a clear sky full of stars will probably end up being one of the most satisfying meals of your life.

Know Your Host

You will be hosted by the Shergill family. Rushil stays here with his parents – Sherry and Deepa. Rushil is a keen angler, avid motorcyclist and a non conformist. He also makes tailor made itineraries in nature and wildlife tours. Sherry has retired from the army and has a deep knowledge of Indian history. Deepa is a charming lady who along with other family members leave no stone unturned to ensure that your stay is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. Licks and cuddles are available in abundance here with the pets who match their hosts equally when it comes to hospitality!
