Malanad Moments Homestay – Chikmagalur

Located in the middle of the western ghats, Chikmagalur is a picturesque hill station in western part of Karnataka. It is famous for its coffee plantations, spice plantations, temples and waterfalls. In the northwest of Chikmagalur lies the forested Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary that is home to elephants, tigers and leopards. There is a local belief that coffee was first made in Chikmagalur. Locals say that Babu Budan who was a Muslim saint brought the coffee seeds in 1670 from Yemen and cultivated them here. And from there on the plantations grew. Chikmagalur is also a birthplace to many renowned freedom fighters, intellectuals, poets and politicians.

It is a beautiful bungalow nestled in the lush coffee estate located at the foothills of Mullayanagiri, the highest peak of Karnataka. Hospitality is a part and parcel of Malanad culture, and Rakshith with his family love to host guests. So 10 years back when the concept of homestays got popularity, they took the opportunity and started this homestay. There are 2 double bedrooms, one triple bedroom and a dormitory with 4 beds. All rooms have attached toilets. The rooms are aesthetically designed to blend with the environment. Homely atmosphere and yet undisturbed privacy is what you can expect here.
