Enduring Elegance Homestay – Srinagar

Srinagar, the capital city of Jammu & Kashmir, with its ethereal beauty is undoubtedly a paradise on Earth. This charming homestay is located in a safe and posh area of Srinagar that is at a walk-able distance from most prime locations. It is just a short walk from the Jhelum river and there are a number of lovely cafes and a shopping area nearby. It’s worth mentioning that the 14th Dalai Lama stayed in this house for a couple of days in the 1970s. It is perfect for a calm and peaceful stay with family in the heart of the city.

This is a 2-storied English-styled bungalow with beautifully furnished interiors. It has five spacious and comfortable rooms with attached bathrooms, two spacious living rooms on both floors, and a common dining area for the guests. The rooms can easily accommodate three adults with the extra bedding. All rooms have wooden floors covered with beautiful carpets, small seating arrangements, and good ventilation. If you like to go for a morning walk or run, there is a beautiful river side walkway close by.

Srinagar Airport is 10 km, and Srinagar railway station is around 9 km away from the homestay. You can hire a taxi or an auto from the airport and the station to reach the destination.

Enjoy simple home cooked meals served with great care by the host. A hot cup of tea in the beautiful garden can be a perfect start to your day. For breakfast, you can have stuffed parathas, butter toast, egg to order, sandwiches, poha etc. Both vegetarian and non vegetarian meals are served as per your preference. Do try Ladhakhi dishes like dim sums, and noodles with homemade sauces. Most of the ingredients used in the kitchen come fresh from their garden.

Sonam Wanchuk Narboo and his wife will warmly welcome you to their beautiful home. Mrs. Narboo used to work with Air India and also ran a restaurant in the heart of Delhi. Now, she runs the homestay during summer and spends three months of winter in Delhi. She is a food specialist who loves cooking Chinese, Tibetan and Indian dishes.  Sonam hails from a political background, his father was a cabinet member of Sheikh Abdullah and was an MLA in Nubra Valley, Lakadh, from 2002-2008. The family is kind, warm and friendly and takes excellent care of guests and will make sure you have everything you need for a wonderful holiday in this stunningly beautiful part of the world.
