Kargil, the second-largest city in Ladakh after Leh and is also a joint capital of the union territory of Ladakh. Surrounded by mountains from all sides, it is a beautiful place with orchards of Mulberry, Apple & Apricot trees dotting its landscape. Kargil has been an important trade center in the past. Traders from different parts of India, China and Central Asia used to trade in tea, carpets, wool, silk and precious stones in olden days and Kargil was known as a historical meeting point. Besides unique landscape and historical importance, there are number of heritage sites, ancient rock carvings, mosques and monasteries, forts and palaces all across the town. This is a boutique homestay in the heart of Kargil with a splendid view of the Suru River. This tastefully designed stay brings together the aesthetics of Kargil’s rich and diverse architectural heritage with the comfort of modern living.  There are 12 Classic Rooms and 2 Superior. In addition there is one 6-bed female dormitory and two 8-bed mixed dormitories; both come with en-suite bathrooms with hot running water. There is a library stocked with and films, board games and projector. There is a lounge and social space to read, relax and mingle. So all in all a perfect place to stay in style in the lap of Himalayas.

Know Your Host

You will be hosted by Muzammil Hussain and his Brother Tafazzul. Born and bought up in Kargil run a responsible travel venture based out of Kargil since 2014. They are pioneers in promoting the lesser known part of Ladakh i.e Kargil and Zanskar. Their vision is to change the preconceived notion of Kargil as “War Zone”. Muzammil is a climber by profession and a qualified mountain guide. He also enjoys doing culture and nature guiding occasionally.
