Upshi is a small village situated along the banks of Indus river and is located at a distance of around 47 km from Leh on the Leh-Manali highway. It is in very close proximity to the mighty Tanglang La pass. Upshi also lies on a historical trading route which went up to Tibet. Goat farming is one of the major source of income for the villagers. This is the village where one gets the initial views of river Indus. It is one of the major road junctions in Ladakh from where you can head to Leh, Pangong Lake, Tso Moriri Lake and Tso Kar.
This homestay is perfect for those who are looking to find a place along the Leh-Manali highway to make the journey end a little less hectic. Dawa, who runs the homestay, used to flooded with tourists who were exhausted from their journey from Manali and were looking for a stop-over for the night. That was how he got the idea to start a homestay. It is a convenient stay for those in emergencies along the highway due to landslides, untimely snowfall, rains etc.
The homestay can host large groups as well as individuals as it has 3 double bed rooms with attached toilet in each and a large room for bigger groups that can accommodate upto 10 people. The homestay is just a minute away from Indus River and is situated in between the heights of various peaks that makes you feel closer to nature.
