Riviera Homestay – Charasa

Charasa is an exotically located village, about 14 km from Panamik, across Koyak Bridge in Nubra Valley. Formerly a fortified settlement, it still has the palace and temple buildings. This eco-friendly homestay is located near Charasa Palace, just 100 mtr away from Nubra river. It can be a good base to explore the valley. It is one of the best places to experience local life and culture of Ladakh. The family does organic farming and has livestock. There are 4 guest rooms; 1 room has an attached bathroom and other 3 are with a common one. There is traditional dining room to socialize with fellow travelers. Best time stay at Charasa is Sep-Oct during Clay Festival.

Food

The guests will be treated with local delicacies prepared from organic ingredients. Most of the raw material in the kitchen comes from their own organic farms. Enjoy Khambir with homemade curd during breakfast.  Dinner includes dishes like thukpa, skew, timok, paba with tangtur. You will also be served tea with local snacks like markur, matar etc. Do not miss trying local wine called chang.

Know your Host

Tsering, a cheerful young lady will host you. She stays here with her brother Rigzin and parents. While Tsering manages the homestay, Rigzin has a travel agency and their parents are involved in farming. The family will make you feel at home at once and will introduce you to the local way of living with pride.
