BJS Homestay  -Jodhpur

Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan located on the edge of the Thar desert. Its origin dates back to the year 1459 AD. The city was built as the new capital of the state of Marwar to replace the ancient capital Mandore, the ruins of which can be seen near what is now the Mandore Gardens. The people of Jodhpur and surrounding areas are hence also commonly called as Marwaris. The forts and palaces, temples and havelis, culture and tradition, spices and fabrics, colour and texture, a booming handicrafts industry, all add up to make this historic city worth a visit.
It’s a beautifully restored forty years old building located in a peaceful, safe and secure posh locality in Jodhpur. Most of the residents living here are from the warrior community whose Grand Pa’s used to work for Jodhpur Lancers – Army of Marwar Kingdom. A Walk in the colony will give you a good glimpse of the Marwari culture. It is a two storied house. Host family stays on the top floor and the guest rooms are on the middle floor. There are 4 well ventilated spacious rooms for the guests all with an attached bathroom and comfortable bedding. One is a single occupancy room and 3 double occupancy rooms. All rooms have AC. You get a beautiful view of the Mehrangarh Fort and Umaid Bhawan Palace from the terrace. The terrace also provides lovely sunrise and sunset views. There is a puja room as well in the hall.

The homestay is conveniently located at 7 kms from the Jodhpur Airport and 5 kms from the Railway Station. Most of the monuments in Jodhpur are only 10-15 minutes by car or auto rickshaw from here. There’s a park at a 2 min walk where you can take a walk and kids can play. Hospital is just a 2 min walk from the homestay.

Helpful Host

Mr Singh was a very attentive host who helped with anything we required. The room was very comfortable, food good. It felt like 'home' . The situation of it is not in the centre of Jodphur but the proprietor very helpful in helping to get Tuk Tuk to the city or station.
