Barog

Barog, just 60 km from Chandigarh on the Kalka-Shimla highway, is perched high among the Shivalik hills in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. Surrounded by pine and oak forests, this gorgeous hill town is a conveniently accessible destination steeped in pre-colonial history. This village is named after an engineer Barog who was to construct a tunnel alongside the railway track. But due to some miscalculations, certain things went wrong with the construction. Humiliated and disgraced, the engineer committed suicide. It was the construction of this railway track that led to the establishment of the village nearby. The tunnel is one of the straightest tunnels in the world. The whole area is lush with a spirited green and has an almost unimaginable range of colors in its folds and creases.

It’s a three bedroom independent drive-in villa situated at the top peak in Barog Valley with incredible views. Just a few minutes drive away from Shimla and Solan, it is an ideal base to explore these destinations. How To Reach

The closest airport is at Jubbar-Hatti, 65 km away. The nearest narrow gauge railhead is at Barog itself. It is one of the most attractive stations in the Scottish style on the Kalka – Shimla rail route. It is 62 km from Chandigarh and 55 km from Shimla.
