Nestles within a 2-acre farm, this unique, modern container-home around 20 km from Mananthavady and 36 kms from Wayanad. The farm overlooks the beautiful West Wayanad hills and has fruits, vegetables, spices and coffee. They also have a cow, chicken and quails. It is ideal for those wishing to live in an isolated place in peace and serenity. It promises a quiet and relaxed holiday, with plenty of hiking options around. There is a small river 5 min away from the stay.

It is a 5-bedroom house with classy interiors and gives a feel of an expanded tiny-home and can accommodate 10 people. There are modern en-suite bathrooms. Along the hill slopes there is camping deck that accommodates 2 twin tents, with bio-toilet and bath, for those wish to pitch a tent for the night. With top notch interiors this place has all modern amenities for a comfortable stay. You can witness amazing sunsets from the balcony. Bonfire and barbecue can also be arranged.

How to Reach

Wayanad district is not connected directly by rail or Airport. The Kannur International Airport is the nearest Airport at 64km and Kozhikode Airport at 104 km. Kozhikode railway station at 81 km from the homestay. Visitors can take local buses and cabs available from Kozhikode to reach Makkiyad.

Food

They provide authentic Kerala specialties for breakfast that include Puttu, Dosa/Neer Dosa, Idli, Appam, Puri, Ney Pathal, Kappa/Chembu, etc. They prepare meals using farm our produce – vegetables, dairy products and eggs – as much as possible. It is mostly an eggetarian spread but local non-veg specialties can be sourced on request. They usually don’t serve lunch unless there is a request in advance. Simple dinner can be provided that includes chapati, daal and subzi.

Know Your Host

This Homestay belongs to Shubha Varma. She is a conservation architect, with keen interest in cultural tourism, trekking, and farming. Her husband shares her interests, and thus they began working on this farm a couple of years ago. You will be attended by a care taker. Shubha visist the farms occasionally.
