Graceful Garden Villa  – Ooty

Ooty, also known as Udhagamandalam, is nestled amongst the Nilgiri hills in Tamil Nadu. Owing to nature’s abundant blessings in terms of climate, scenic splendor, local sights and sounds, its wealth of flora and fauna and homegrown tea and coffee, Ooty was once the summer capital of Madras Presidency under the British. The Stone House, St. Stephen’s Church and  landmark 1822 bungalow,  are remnants of the area’s first British settlement. Dotted with sprawling tea gardens,  winding country lanes, scenic waterfalls, and charming colonial architecture, it is one of the favorite hill destinations among tourists. The Nilgiri Mountain railway is the steepest track in all of Asia and it still retains a working steam railway line. From Doddabetta Peak, the district’s most prominent viewpoint, you can see as far as the Mysore plateau On a clear day. 

This thoughtfully built homestay is located on top of a hill in a peaceful locale around 14 kms from the town of Ooty. How To Reach

The nearest airport is at Coimbatore which is located around 88 km and the nearest railway station is Mettupalayam 49 km  from the hill station. Bangalore to Ooty there are 2 routes you can take via Mysore or via Chamarajanagar.

Food

The host serves tasty and delicious breakfast, the options being idli, dosa, sambar, masala poori, bread omelet, pongal etc. Lunch includes rice, sambar, chicken, curd, papad etc. Mutton can also be prepared on order. Dinner options can be seasonal vegetables and chicken with chapati. You can also try some traditional local dishes. Barbeque along with campfire is provided on demand.

Know Your Host

Kalib Mustafa, born and brought up in Ooty manages the homestay. He lives in Ooty and visits the homestay as and when any guests are there. He is a wildlife lover and likes to trek. If you get to meet him do sit with him over a cup of coffee to hear some interesting local stories.
