Kanatal is a small hamlet, situated at 8500 ft above sea level in the Garhwal region of Himalayas in Uttarakhand. If you like walking along undiscovered forest trails, sitting by the mountain stream and chasing butterflies across meadows, come to Kanatal.  Located on Mussoorie – Chamba road, this quaint hill station has an expansive view of Himalayas and is surrounded by apple orchards and has rolling green stretches.

Located in the serene surroundings amidst Pine, Oak and Rhododendron forest, this rustic farmstay is ideal if you want to get cut off from the world and detox in the lap of nature. It is 1.2km off the road and takes around 20 minute of beautiful forest walk to reach. You can experience the healing effect of nature, the moment you are there.  The aroma and freshness in the air, the uninterrupted silence and the depth of valleys takes you into a trance state of everlasting peace and tranquility. 

The strategic location that it has, provides you a view of 20 snow capped peaks of greater Himalayas starting from Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch to mighty Chaukhamba. You can experience both mesmerizing sunrises and gorgeous sunsets from here. Wake up to the perfect red hues in the sky and chirping of the birds. Enjoy your morning tea while the sun shows its magic, eat healthy pahadi meals prepared from fresh organic vegetables from the farm and do whatever you enjoy the most – read, play or work. Yes the property has WiFi as well, so you can work from here. Walk along narrow lanes amidst fragrant pine, deodar and rhododendron forests, as you bond with nature. You can try meditation and nature photography as well. 

There are 4 rustic mud cottages. Two family units have two double occupancy rooms each with an attached western style washroom and a kitchen. They are ideal for the couple and families. Other two cottages have 2 rooms each with a capacity of 6 people in each room. Each room has an attached bathroom. They are ideal for the groups.

Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest Airport 92kms away from Kanatal. The two nearest railway stations are Dehradun (85km) and Rishikesh (75km). Buses and Taxis to Kanatal are easily available from major destinations of Uttarakhand like Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar and Tehri, Chamba and Mussoorie, etc.

Food

Delicious farm fresh home cooked meals are provided. Breakfast options are Stuffed Parathas, Puri Sabji, Roti with seasonal vegetable etc. Meals are simple pahadi food made with fresh ingredients from the farms. A few Garhwali delicacies that you must try are Geheth ka Phaana, Swaala Bhaaji, Chainsa, Madua ki Roti, Jhangore ki Kheer and Aloo Muli ki Thichoni.

Know your Host

Manish born and brought up in Agra was shifted to Uttarakhand around 9 years back to develop sustainable rural tourism. He is actively involved in trekking and agriculture and started this farm as an initiative to encourage organic farming and provide a sustainable rural stay option to people who want to reconnect with nature. A team of enthusiastic local people take care of the farm.
