Namchi the capital of South Sikkim district, is a small town in Sikkim located at a distance of 78 km from the state capital Gangtok and 100 kilometres from the town of Siliguri. Set in picturesque location, Namchi offers unmatched view of the Kanchenjunga range and the Rangit valley. It is known for its monasteries, museums, valleys, forests and scenic views. Ahladara is a beautiful tiny village near Namchi inhabited by the Tamang community. Nestled in the hills at 4600 ft above sea level, the village experiences pleasant climate all year round. It is a perfect destination to experience local culture while living in midst of nature.

Located far from the mainland this farm stay is set amidst nature with unparalleled serenity and peace. There are 2 Bamboo and Pine Cottage and one Dormitory that can accommodate 8-10 people. It has all the required facilities and amenities required to make the guests stay comfortable. All the rooms have an attached bathroom with a 24 hour water supply. There are 2 balconies with a sitting area outside. Homestay provides a unique experience to the guests exposing them to the rich local culture, traditional lifestyle and home-cooked traditional meals.

How To Reach

Bagdogra Airport is the closest airport to Namchi. From the airport, one can hire a cab or take a taxi till Gangtok, which is quite near. Buses and jeep services are readily available from Gangtok till Namchi.

Food

Traditional food is served to the guests to give the taste of local culture.  Breakfast includes Chapati/Puri Sabji, Noodles, Biscuits etc. whereas in other meals local food or Nepali Thali is served including Sinsu, Corn, Rice, Sabji etc. Non-vegetarian food is also available on request.  You must try Tongba (local organic drink) with Chicken Sekwa.

You will be welcomed by warm and friendly Rinzing Tamang and his family. Rinzing is a computer teacher in a local school and is very helpful, humble and kind. They are a family of five members who go out of their way to make you comfortable and feel at home. Rinzing can guide you on local tours and trek as well and might accompany you if he is available.
