Alchaunaa is a picturesque tiny village located  in Nainital district, Uttarakhand. Away from the crowd and noise, this sleepy village is nestled in lush green pine forests and mountain streams like Gaula and Khalsa flow through it. Alchaunaa is just 8 km from Bhimtal, 18 km from Sattal and 28 km from Nainital town. Chanfi, just at a walking distance from here is one of the best birding sites in the area. There are many hidden nature trails and treks around. Its close proximity to destinations like Nainital, Mukteshwar, Ranikhet etc. make it an ideal base to stay and explore the Kumaon region. 

The homestay is made in traditional Bakhli style located on a hill adjacent to river Gaula. There are 3 Classic guest rooms and a Superior which is much bigger in size and amenities. All come with attached bathrooms. The sitting area outside the rooms gives a beautiful mountain view and is perfect to bask in winters.  River Gaula and the historical suspension bridge is just at 5 min walking distance from the homestay.

Food

Fresh home cooked meals are served with all the love and care. Breakfast includes stuffed paratha with pickle and curd, butter toast with your choice of eggs or poori bhaji. Enjoy piping hot meals while basking. The meals are high on local flavors and regional ingredients and include seasonal vegetables, dal, rice, roti, raita etc. All the raw material comes from own organic farms or are sourced locally . The specialties include Gahat ki Dal, Rajmah, Pahadi Raita, Bhang ki Chutney and Masala Chai.

Know your Host

Manmohan Singh Mehra will host you along with his family. They are the natives of Alchaunaa for ages. Manmohan is a contractor in Pay Jal Nigam and  his wife Punam Mehra is a home maker and loves to cook. The family is very courteous and will go out of their way to make you feel like home
