Hidden Wonderland Farmstay – Chamba

Located 8kms from Chamba, Nailbagi is a rustic, tiny village in Tehri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand. The village is surrounded by oak and pine forest and a beautiful trek of around 1.5 km through the forest takes you to this lovely hidden village. Nailbagi is good for a visit all round the year. In summer the days are warm and mornings & evenings pleasant, making it an ideal place to escape the city heat and the crowds of popular hill stations. Winters are typically cold and September to March is the best time to soak in the views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks and to experience snowfall.

The homestay is a traditional Pahadi house nestled deep inside the forest and is 20 feet away from the main family house. An hour’s easy walk from the main road takes you to this cozy and comfortable homestay. There are 3 aesthetically handcrafted spacious rooms for the guests – 2 of them have attached bathrooms and 1 room has bathroom just outside the room. The view of snow covered Himalayan ranges from the home is majestic. This lovingly made farm stay has all the basic comforts: clean toilets, kettle in the room to heat your water, warm water for bathing (immersion rod), electricity, cozy bedding and delicious organic farm picked food. A table with a desk is also provided. Such comfort without road access is a real treat and here you can have your share of it.

Wake up to an orchestra of birds, practice yoga in the serene surroundings or join your hosts in the kitchen to learn and share recipes. The breathtaking views of mountain peaks visible from the homestay, coupled with the mesmerizing bonfire evenings, adds to the magical ambiance. One of the highlights of your visit here will be exploring the Kaudiya Forest, where the diversity of bird species and the stunning mountain vistas will leave you in awe.

Know Your Host

It was in 2021 that Jitendra Singh, got motivated to build a few rooms  running a homestay on his family land in Nailbagi village to help supplement the family income. Jitendra and his family worked tirelessly in getting the building completed on a low budget. The whole structure is hand-built by the family, including the furniture in the room.

The warmth and welcoming nature of Jitendra and his family will make you feel right at home. Jitendra is a farmer and a trained guide who can help you explore the surroundings. He will take you to the forest trek for spotting some amazing species of flora and fauna. His wealth of knowledge, especially about birds, adds an enriching dimension to the experience. From identifying various bird species to mimicking their calls, his expertise is truly commendable.
