Serene Nook Homestay – Pithoragarh

The Himalayan town of Pithoragarh is located in Saur Valley in Kumaon region, Uttarakhand. It is the fourth largest city of Kumaon. With high Himalayan mountains, perennial rivers, valleys, alpine meadows and forests, it has rich ecological diversity with a variety of flora and fauna. Pithoragarh also is rich in cultural heritage with many temples and forts ruins of the warrior Chand Kingdom.

It is an independent house in a small village 19 kms before Pithoragarh. This peaceful stay is nestled on the hilltop and offers outstanding panoramic views. The house is 200 meters off the road away from hustle bustle of the main road. The ground floor has a family suite with a living room and 2 interconnected bedrooms and can accommodate 5 people. And the first floor has 1 room with a balcony. There is one common bathroom on the ground floor. The family has its own organic kitchen garden and the livestock; so you get fresh seasonal vegetables, milk and homemade milk products.

How To Reach

Pithoragarh has its own airport, the Naini Saini Airport. It is not connected by any direct train services, however it is well connected by road. The nearest railway stations are Tanakpur (151 km) and Kathgodam (212 km).

Delicious home cooked meals prepared from fresh farm vegetables are served. Stuffed aloo paratha, puri sabzi, chhole bhature are some of the breakfast options. Wholesome veg north Indian thali is served in lunch and dinner that includes seasonal vegetables, dal, Chutney, rice, roti, curd, salad etc.  If you like to try local food ask for Kumaoni thali that includes Bhatt ki Churkani, Bhatt ka saag, Mas ki Puri, Shel, Made, Aloo ke Gutke, Kumauni Rayta, Bhang ki chatni etc. Non- vegetarian can be prepared on advance request.

There are plenty of trekking routes that begin from Pithoragarh, the most famous being Kailash Mansarovar. Others include trekking to Ralam Glacier, Namik Glacier and Milam Glacier.
