Ramgarh

Ramgarh is where Guru Rabindranath concluded his most famous poem Geetanjali. Hindi poet Mahadevi Verma, patriot and writer Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’ and Sachidananda “Agyeya” also lived here. Mahadevi’s house has been converted into a museum and visitors can see her belongings displayed there. This is the place where you get the first unobstructed view of Himalayas while travelling to Mukteshwar. Ramgarh is also known as the ‘Fruit Bowl of Kumaon’.

Bohrakote Homestay is a boutique family run place, built in the middle of a 24000 sq ft organic farm. It consist of 7 well appointed guest rooms. 1st floor has 1 double and 2 triple bedded room. 2nd floor has 3 double and a 4 bedded Family Suite. Every room is attached with private bathroom and balcony. It has a garden, fish pond and an organic farm of its own. And yes, it has a river flowing just beside. Only TV in the house is installed in the lobby.

Since Tulsi is a great cook herself, you get some of the best Kumaoni cuisines. She has a fish pond of herself and her specialty in non veg is Rainbow Trout fish. Ask her for Lemon Grass Tea which she made with no added sugar but natural sweet herbs.

Your host Jagat Singh with his very humble wife Tulsi will welcome you. He is a passionate agriculturist and Tulsi is a great cook of Kumaoni food. They run the show with their son Samtosh and daughter-in-law priyanka. Being a local person he can guide you to some hidden gems around Ramgarh which you don’t find in guide books.
