Uttarkashi is a holy town situated on the banks of the River Bhagirathi in Uttarakhand and is known as the gateway for “Char Dham” yatra. This culturally significant place is equally pleasant for nature and adventure lovers as it offers several opportunities for trekking, mountaineering and adventure sports. It is one of the most picturesque town of Garhwal region and is known for the wide variety of coniferous vegetation such as fir, pine, deodar, medicinal shrubs and herbs. Just about 6 km from Uttarkashi this beautiful village Gangori is located. This is where Assi Ganga meets Bhagirathi.
Located in the Himalayan foothills of Uttarkashi, this eco-friendly homestay promises a peaceful outing in the lap of nature serving travelers with the essence of Garhwali culture and traditions yet keeping in sync with all the basic amenities required for a modern traveler. The homestay offers accommodation, a shared lounge, a garden, water sports facilities and a terrace for a comfortable stay. There are six spacious rooms for guests, each with a storage unit and reading/writing table. There are four rooms on the ground floor each with double bed; Out of these two rooms are interconnected and suitable for the families and groups, one is with wooden interiors (deluxe) and one is with attached kitchen. The rooms on the first and the second floor have three single beds each. Additionally, there is a common kitchen on the ground floor that can be used by the guests if required. The house runs entirely on solar energy.
Your host Akhil Pant and his mother Meena Pant will welcome you, residents of Gangori. Akhil is an enthusiastic and insightful person well versed with local traditions and culture. He can assist you in planning and organizing a guided tour of Uttarkashi. Meena Ji is the epitome of women empowerment in true sense. She juggles her roles beautifully as a homemaker and the principal of a Government primary school. With that she is an excellent cook and an amazing hostess.
Meena pant offers freshly prepared homemade food to her guests. Breakfast options can be Butter Toast, Eggs, Paratha, Alu Poori and seasonal fruits. Meals include the best of local cuisines like piping hot rotis, steaming dal and seasonal vegetables sourced fresh from the kitchen garden. Milk and dairy products also come from the in-house farm. Lunch/ Dinner can be ordered at the stay, as required. Non-vegetarian food is served only on demand and availability.
