Located in the Lesser Himalayas at an elevation of 6,700 ft , Darjeeling is fondly called “Queen of the Hills”. The sprawling tea estates that produce world’s best tea, amazing narrow gauge toy train – an engineering marvel of 1880s, the colonial-era architecture, the orchids, pines & rhododendrons make a perfect hill getaway. Darjeeling is known for its youthful vibe combined with modern as well as colonial charm.

The nearest airport is Bagdogra and the nearest railway junction is New Jalpaiguri (NJP). It takes about 3 hours to reach Darjeeling from both these locations by car. Private taxis, shared taxis and buses are available. Alternatively, you can take the fascinating toy train ride from NJP or Siliguri all the way up to Darjeeling soaking in the scenic sights of Himalayas in a 7-hour lazy journey.

The Homestay

This very well kept homestay is located on Gandhi Road in the heart of Darjeeling town. Its a 6 floor building where the 2nd and 4th floor are available for the guests. Rest is occupied by the host and his family. Each apartment has two bedrooms, a bathroom, living room, balcony and a kitchen; ideal for a family of 2 to 6 people. On a clear day Kanchenjunga is visible from the balcony. Darjeeling Railway station is just 1.2 km from the homestay. It has easy accessibility and the car reaches till the homestay.

Shijal Rai is the resident of Darjeeling and lives here with his wife Nilam and parents. He loves meeting people and helping them. Friendly couple love to host people and take good care of all their needs.

Simple continental breakfast is served. Local meals, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, can be provided on order. It includes seasonal vegetables, Rice, Roti and local dishes like Gundrunk, Kenima, Churpi etc. Being in the heart of town, there are many restaurants around in case guests want to eat out.
