Ghoom is a quiet hill town located just 6 km from Darjeeling in West Bengal. It is also renowned for Buddhist sites including the Samten Choeling monastery with its huge Buddha statue, and colorful 19th-century Yiga Choeling Monastery. The panoramic view of the mountain landscapes and the tranquility here will simply leave you awestruck.

Surrounded by pines and bamboos forest, the homestay has spectacular views of lush green environments. It has 6 Wooden Bedrooms; all come with an attached bathroom. There is 2 room set for family having a common bathroom in the middle. There is a common dining area and a living room. Ghoom station is just around the corner and Darjeeling town is 20 minutes drive away. Tiger Hill is 11 km from the homestay.

How To Reach

Ghoom railway station at an altitude of 7407 ft. is the highest railway station in India. This is the highest point of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway from where the Toy Train starts descending towards Darjeeling town. It is just around 70 kms from Bagdogra airport.

You will get an authentic local flavor while staying here. Traditional Nepali Thali is served. The food also has an influence of Bengali and Naga cuisine and is prepared keeping in mind guests taste preferences. Delicious thukpa and momos are a must try staple dishes. Sael roti and Shaphalay are Nepali delicacies that are prepared during special occasions at home. You might also want to try Chaang, also known as ‘Tongba’ prepared by fermented millet. Also enjoy special Darjeeling tea while listening to heartwarming music with a beautiful view.

Know your Host

Ashish Chhetri is the owner of the homestay. He along with his brother, Roshan Chhetri takes care of all the guests. Ashish is a government employee in ministry of defense. He is a kind and gentle man. He and his brother are always there to help their guests and take them to a local village tour explaining their culture and traditions.
