Sukhia Pokhri is a quaint town near Darjeeling in West Bengal. It is surrounded by dense pine forests and offers majestic views of hills covered with misty white veil of fog. It stands at an elevation of 7189 ft close to the Indo- Nepal border. You get the fragrance of tea and the view of mighty Kanchenjunga and beautiful valleys of Eastern Himalayas while walking on the roads. It is known to be a bird’s paradise. There is a plethora of Himalayan bird life there like treepies, barbets, pheasants, flycatchers, sunbirds, orioles and a variety of butterflies.
With breathtaking views of the sun slowly rising above the horizon over the jeweled mountain peaks and gazing at the sky changing color to golden hue, this homestay offers an astounding visual feast. It is located in a small peaceful village Pokhriabong 10 kms before Sukhia pokhri amidst self cultivated farms. There are 2 cottages each having 2 rooms with double bed setting, attached bathrooms and balcony offering panoramic views. There is an in-house bonfire area, a small bar by its side and a small reading and music room with a collection of books and guitar.

Both local as well as Bengali cuisines are served, but fish is rarely found here. Breakfast includes puri, aloo dum, eggs and toast. Lunch and dinner includes rice, dal, seasonal vegetables and papad along with meat and eggs. In the evening enjoy pakoras with tea. You can pre order food like traditional pork, beef, chicken roast or barbecue. You can also try home made wine and traditional drink in bamboo shoot.
