The Island Homestay – Munroe Island, Kollam

Munroe Island is a group of small islets located in the Kollam district of Kerala. This 125 years old home is located in a very serene and calm environment on the island. It is a perfect place to sit back and relax while enjoying the rustic culture and food of Kerala. Travelling in a boat to reach the Homestay and a free tour of the surrounding area and boat ride through the backwaters make it a unique experience. It has 2 rooms with attached bathrooms. One room can accommodate four guests and other room has space for three guests. There is a beautiful backyard with complete isolation and fresh air of the island. A free offsite Private Parking is available at a location nearby.

How to Reach

The homestay is located on an island in Kollam city of Kerala at a distance of 80 km from Trivandrum International Airport. Perinad (8km), Kundara (14km) and Sasthankotta (17km) are the nearest railway stations with a high frequency of trains for reaching the island. Kundara (15km) and Titanium Chavara (25km) are the nearest bus stand to the location. One has to reach the parking lot from where up and down journey to the homestay in mechanised country boat is provided by the host.

Fresh and delicious Kerala style food is served. Both Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian food is available. There is a small kitchen on the premises where host cook delicacies along with his friend and serve it to their guests. They purchase fresh grocery upon arrival of its guests as per taste and budget of the guest. Parippu, Parppidakam, Sambar, Aviyal, Thoran, Morukachiyathhu, Karimeen Fry, Chippi Kakka are few of the dishes served by the host that are worth a try.
